Drinks that are simple, delicious & pair with everyday life
a little more happy
in our happy hours
How does a copper mule mug make your drink taste better? Why do some whiskeys taste smoother than others? And how do you strain your cocktail if you don’t have a strainer? On every episode of The Mix, host Julie Smith and mixologist Phil Armijo dig into mouthwatering drink recipes that you can make at home, all while digging into facts and answering questions about your favorite spirits. Scroll down for recipes from each episode and share your cocktail photos with us by tagging us @atlantaeatstv and using #themixga.
Julie Smith is an Emmy award-winning television and radio host, voice actor, and former news reporter.
A Kentucky transplant to Atlanta in 2016, she began her time in the Peach State as a reporter at CBS46 and can now be seen and heard in various markets around the country interviewing financial professionals on tv and talk radio as well as periodically guest hosting on popular foodie show Atlanta Eats.
Some of Julie’s favorite (ie. fun) interviews over the years have included Snoop Dogg, Robin Meade, Shemar Moore, and Warren Moon, actress Vivica A. Fox, actors John Amos, Ice T & Coco.
Fun fact: Julie has appeared on reality tv twice, both times by accident. The first time on the fourth season of The Bachelor and the second time on a short-lived reality show called Southern Belles Louisville.
Phil Armijo is an experienced actor with over 20 years of bartender and mixology experience.
After starting his career in Florida at FSU’s Film School Master program, Phil moved to Orlando to study acting for film and television. Finding success in Florida, Phil relocated to Atlanta in 2014 (on the 1st day of the Snowpocalypse!).
Since then, Phil has appeared in many films, commercials and television shows. His goal is to teach the everyday person how to develop the confidence to be a star! He also loves focusing on simple recipes with simple supplies that yield complex results.
